A 14-year-old girl in southeast China’s Longyan city has been practicing “Three Knives,” an ancient martial art from Fuzhou that originated from using silver hairpins for self-defense, work, and combat. More than just hair accessories, this tradition showcases the grace and strength of Fuzhou women, blending elegance and practicality. It was added to Fuzhou’s intangible cultural heritage list in November 2024.
